Tibet Relief Fund take over running of Community Centre
After many months spent developing the idea of a community centre in Rewalsar – the Tibetan refugee settlement where we’ve been working since 2013 - we officially handed over the full funding and management of the Centre to Tibet Relief Fund on 24th November. It felt a very meaningful moment!
We feel so pleased that the project is up and running with good premises, newly painted and furnished, and with Karma Tenzin, the new project coordinator, full of enthusiasm to take the project on. There’s a sense of a relief too that, having got this far, Tibet Relief Fund can now take on the longer-term funding and management of the project, which would have been well beyond the reach of TSGY. We will still have a strong connection to the project and we are particularly well placed to raise funds for any activities or equipment that lie outside the budget.
All of this has only been possible because so many people have supported the project. We’ve been very moved by so many people’s generosity and kindness. Thank you all so much – what wonderful team work!
